Night of Joy 2010

night of joy is a weekend when christian bands come and do a huge concert in the magic kingdom park. i have heard very bad things about this event, sometimes the people can get out of hand and it causes just a big mess throughout the park. it definitely isn't a favorite for the cast members. last night i got to experience the first night of joy in my life. for the first half of my shift i was scheduled to clear the land of people who didn't pay to stay for the event. while i was doing this magic kingdom turned off all of their theme music and had christian music playing throughout the kingdom. as soon as it happened i got goosebumps all over just because that is something i never expected. the rest of my shift was spent on big thunder mountain working just like normal except it was unlike any other experience. hearing the music and being able to send the music that keeps me calm because i am singing for the lord was AMAZING and if it weren't for the music i might have lost my head. the crowds were so LOUD! most of them are teenagers and really excited about everything going on around them so it is just normal for them but it makes it tough for us as cast members. they also ALL love to high five, i don't know why this is but it is a safety hazard on the ride so it was tough dealing with all of that! my favorite part of the night though was when i was upstairs at merge! we didn't have fastpass so it was pretty easy to just stand there and tell people to pick a line. the song "how great is our god" came on the speakers and the whole queue stopped of screams and high fives and everyone, including myself, started singing along. that is one song i think is easy for people to worship to and feel something with god, it's simple but absolutely wonderful and to the point and hearing everyone sing was almost breathtaking because a lot of those people are there to worship and experience god!

tonight is our last night of night of joy and i will be working the same shift. i am looking forward to a night of singing again, but i kind of hope that the crowds aren't as crazy!
